Fain spoke at the event “Unions for Ceasefire Now.” Representatives Ilan Omar (D-Mn.) and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) joined Fain next to the podium while he called on other congressional representatives to “step up and do what it takes to end the violence.”
The comments did not go over well on social media.

Why are you weighing in on this issue? UAW = “United Auto Workers”. Lot of auto workers in Hamas?

He’s so obviously using his role a president of the union as a platform to launch his political career as a socialist politician. He knows the days of auto unions are numbered and he’s trying to pivot.

Rep. Tlaib called it an “honor” to stand behind Fain.
I am a proud daughter of the @UAW. It was an honor to stand alongside President @ShawnFainUAW and other union leaders calling for a ceasefire now. I wish my dad was alive to see his union demand peace and justice for all. pic.twitter.com/HuB6QB8Ppn
