Fain spoke at the event “Unions for Ceasefire Now.” Representatives Ilan Omar (D-Mn.) and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) joined Fain next to the podium while he called on other congressional representatives to “step up and do what it takes to end the violence.”

The comments did not go over well on social media.

Rep. Tlaib called it an “honor” to stand behind Fain.

The rally comes on the same day that General Motors announced the layoffs of more than 1.300 workers at two plants in Michigan.
