PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The mother of the Oxford High School shooter will stand trial first on involuntary manslaughter charges.

Jury selection for Jennifer Crumbley’s trial will begin on Tuesday. She and her husband, James Crumbley, face four counts of involuntary manslaughter after their son murdered four students and injured seven other people in the November 2021 shooting. James Crumbley’s trial is scheduled for March 5.

Prosecutors argue the Crumbleys bought the gun for their then 15-year-old son that he used in the shooting. Ethan Cumbley is now serving a life with out parole sentence, but documents filed by his lawyers seek to change that.

The Detroit Free Press reported on Monday that Ethan Crumbley is appealing his life-without-parole sentence. In addition, his new lawyers plan to fight efforts to get him to testify in his parents’ cases. Attorneys are also trying to keep the now 17-year-old from taking the stand and having his medical records released.
