LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A national report from Harvard and Stanford shows Michigan students have not recovered from pandemic related closures.

The report shows students did make gains in math and reading between 2022 and 2023 but the gains did not make up for losses during the pandemic.

Researchers found the academic losses are being felt unevenly with students in Saginaw, Lansing, and Detroit further behind that students in wealthier areas. The state is one of 17 where students are more than a third of a grade level behind.
