MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The contentious process of changing Marquette High School’s mascot from the “Redmen” and “Redettes” continues to hit roadblocks.

Two weeks ago, the school board announce its acceptance of “The Sentinels” as the district’s new mascot name.

.Afterwards, local resident Margaret Brumm said she trademarked the name and would sue the school if they used it.

Marquette Area Public Schools countered that the district is moving forward with the new name after many legal consultations. Members stated Brumm had no legal grounds to come after the school board.
