GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Ottawa County board of Commissioners hired an attorney to take a look at threats of legal action from county administrator John Gibbs.

Gibbs is under contract through January 2026. However, the county board has options to remove him if they choose.

One option involves terminating him without cause. That course of action requires 90 days written notice and Gibbs would get nine-months pay and health insurance.

Attorneys for Gibbs said there is no basis to terminate his job for cause.
