WATERFORD, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former President Donald Trump made a campaign stop in Michigan on Saturday in Oakland County in front of a crowd of about 2,000 supporters in an airport hangar.
Saturday also marked the day that early voting started in the Mitten State ahead of the state’s presidential primary on Tuesday, February 27th.

The former president, who was sporting a red MAGA hat, even mentioned that early voting was starting on Saturday – something that former, but acting, Michigan GOP Chair Kristina Karamo seems to be unaware of.
While emails from the Michigan Democratic Party are flooding inboxes across the state with information on how to vote early, where to vote early, and how to vote absentee, Karamo is nowhere to be found on the matter.
As the MIGOP Chair, the state’s party leader has two primary goals that most say Karamo has failed spectacularly at since being elected Chair in February: fundraising for the party and encouraging Republicans to the vote.
Former, but acting, MIGOP Chair not encouraging anyone to vote.
Unfortunately, Karamo is currently too busy trying to act as the Secretary of State, talking about election integrity, and also spending her time reassuring everyone she’s still the Chair of the party even though the Republican National Committee (RNC) says otherwise.
And it’s not just the RNC who says that former congressman and ambassador Pete Hoekstra is the legitimate chair of the party, it’s also Trump, who endorsed him for the position about three weeks ago as well as giving him a shout out at the Waterford rally on Saturday which he attended.
Trump talks of supporting the autoworkers.
At the Waterford rally, Trump hit on the issues close to the hearts of Michiganders, including the Democrats’ push for electric vehicles which he says will be the death of the auto industry – and Michigan.

Trump spent much of the rally making sure that the state and the autoworkers know that he has their back on keeping auto manufacturing in the country and in the state.
Trump promised, ”For all of you here in Michigan, I have a very special promise: I will save the American auto industry from Joe Biden’s torture and destruction. I will bring it back.”
Trump will shut down the border which will help Michigan workers.
Trump also warned the UAW members in the audience about how the border crisis also affects their jobs. He said, “The biggest threat to your union is millions of people coming across the border. You’re not going to have your jobs anymore.”
Saturday marked Trump’s first visit to the state since September of last year when he addressed a nonunion auto supplier’s facility in Macomb County during the UAW’s strike against Detroit automakers. During that event, he criticized the initiatives aimed at shifting the industry towards increased electric vehicle sales.
Michigan’s governor says Michigan doesn’t want another Trump presidency.
Pushing back on the former president ahead of Trump’s Saturday speech, Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who is also a co-chair in Biden’s re-election campaign, released a statement, saying, “Donald Trump creates division everywhere he goes, but we’ve come together to make our state more welcoming and more prosperous. Michigan didn’t buy what Donald Trump was selling in 2020 and we won’t in 2024.”
According to polling, Trump is ahead of Biden in Michigan in close race.
Polls seem to indicate that the presidential race in Michigan is still pretty tight even amidst the pro- Palestinian Democrats turning against the president for his support of Israel.
In a Fox News poll released last Wednesday, Trump only tops Biden by two points in the state, leading him 47% to 45%.
About the state of Michigan, Trump said at the rally, “If we win Michigan, we win the election.”
