LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On Tuesday, Michigan’s updated COVID-19 statistics revealed a somber benchmark, reaching an official tally of 40,044 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the first reported COVID-19 death of a Michigan resident on February 25, 2020.
The majority of these fatalities occurred in the counties of Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Genesee, and Kent.

The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) has documented 368 COVID-19 deaths in 2024 and 2,323 in 2023.
Additionally, the state reported 3,071 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, reflecting a 7% decrease from the previous week.
According to the CDC, the United States has witnessed a total of 1,180,042 COVID-19 fatalities.
However, for the week of February 11 through February 17, 2024, only 2.4% of the country’s deaths are attributed to COVID-19, marking an 11.1% decrease in the most recent week.
