LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A recent poll conducted among Michigan voters, which incorporates a broader spectrum of contenders, shows that President Joe Biden continues to trail former President Donald Trump in the crucial battleground state as both emerge as their parties’ presumptive nominees for the November election.

In a direct face-off between the two presidents, Trump’s lead narrows, with him ahead of Biden 48% to 45%, leaving 8% of voters undecided, unwilling to answer, or opting for another candidate. The head-to-head matchup is described by Quinnipiac as “too close to call.”
Conducted by Quinnipiac University’s respected polling center, the survey reached out to 1,487 self- identified registered voters between March 8th and 12th. It carries a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Other polls have Biden falling behind.
Numerous polls have consistently depicted Biden trailing Trump by a narrow margin in Michigan leading up to this year’s election. EPIC-MRA in Lansing, responsible for polling for the Free Press, conducted a recent survey showing Trump leading Biden 45% to 41% in a head-to-head matchup, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Will Biden’s support of Israel cost him the state of Michigan?
Adding to election concerns that Democrats have about Michigan are their voters who may stay home in November because of the president’s position on the Israel-Gaza conflict. When the Michigan presidential primary was held in February, the option of “uncommitted” on the Democrat ballot got over 100,000 votes.
Democratic strategist Waleed Shahid, who first brought up the “uncommitted” strategy in a memo in January said it’s not just a protest vote, but rather a warning to the president that there are “lots of people in this country who are not committed to your reelection and you should take that seriously.”
Democrats in Michigan want to see a President Whitmer someday.
The poll also shows that 79% of the Democrats who were polled want Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer to run for president in the future with 94% of them approving of how she’s doing her job. 41% of the overall voters in the poll do not want her to run with only 39% of them approving of how she’s doing her job.
