STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Last week, numerous police officers in Sterling Heights subdued a man with a hatchet outside a restaurant. They said the man suffered from mental illness.
Body camera footage released from the incident showed the man standing outside the restaurant with the hatchet. Police asked him several times to drop the weapon and he refused to comply. In addition, police said the man threatened himself and police.

Officers then subdued the man.
Sterling Heights officials said no one was injured and released this statement. “The individual, who was clearly suffering from mental illness, was transported to the hospital for a mental petition,” Sterling Heights police said in a statement. “Due to the outstanding job by our officers, a very dangerous situation was controlled and no one was hurt. Furthermore, the subject obtained much-needed treatment at the hospital.”
