LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum announced her candidacy in the Michigan Secretary of State race.
Byrum marks the second Democrat to join the race. Aghogho Edevbie, the deputy secretary of state, declared his candidacy in January.

In a campaign announcement on X, Byrum asks for donations to her campaign through ActBlue, which is under investigation by the Trump administration for its fundraising methods.

Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is running for governor in 2026. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer cannot run again due to term limits.
