BROOKLYN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Taking his third straight Cup Series Victory this season, Denny Hamlin won by more than a second over Chris Buescher at the Firekeepers Casino 400. It was his 57th career win as he awaited the birth of his child.

“I think it’s the most underrated track that we go to,” said Hamlin. “I just worked over the guys one by one, giving them different looks,” he commented on moving into first place.

Hamlin passed William Byron on the 197th lap, going low by him pulling away for the win over Buescher. The win also made him Joe Gibbs Racing’s winningest driver, surpassing Kyle Busch’s 56 wins. He becomes the 10th driver in NASCAR history to win a race after his 700th start.

After Hamlin and Buescher, Ty Gibbs came in third, Bubba Wallace was fourth, and Kyle Larson fifth.

Hamlin was on standby to go to the hospital if his fiancée, Jordan Fish, went into labor before lap 50. Fish did not go into labor, and Hamiln has said he would skip the race in Mexico City to witness the birth of their son.
