DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Dan Campbell is Detroit Lions football talking over a team disrespected by other NFL teams, to the brink of going to a Super Bowl. His playing career started 30 years ago at Texas A&M as a tight end. The Aggie Lettermen’s Association surprised him in June with the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.
In an interview he thought would be about his playing career, Campbell was shown a tribute to him with messages from his former A&M teammates congratulating him on the award. After receiving the award in Allen Park at the Lions’ headquarters, his family came onto the set to celebrate with him.

Campbell had a strong NFL career but is now best known for his head coaching skills for Detroit. He is entering his fifth season and has a 39-28-1 record, leading Detroit to back-to-back NFC North titles and the 2023 NFC Championship Game.
His former head coach, R.C. Slocum, started the video saying, “I know this comes as a surprise, from everybody here in Aggieland, I wanted to congratulate you on what an awesome career that you have had and continue to have.”
Campbell said after the video, “I’m honored. I love my Aggies man. Thank you to all my teammates, R.C., love you to death.” He played four seasons for the Aggies from 1995 to 1998 and was a 1999 NFL third-round draft pick by the New York Giants.
