DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – On Thursday night, Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris remained motionless for 20 minutes in Atlanta after hitting Falcons running back Nathan Carter. The situation quickly became somber as personnel took over and transported Norris to the Atlanta Grady Memorial Hospital.
The Associated Press reported, from a person who spoke anonymously because they weren’t authorized to share details, that Norris was at Detroit’s training facility on Sunday. He was released Saturday from the hospital in Atlanta and was in stable condition by Friday night.

On an Instagram story from Friday on Norris’ account, he said, “Amen, Amen. I’m all good man don’t’ stress it. Appreciate all the check ins and love.”
Norris, facing Carter, hit him in the midsection with his facemask, and his head snapped back after assisting on the tackle. The game was stopped at 14:50 in the fourth quarter, and when Norris was taken off the field, the two teams ran the next play by holding hands and bowing their heads in prayer. Both head coaches, Detroit’s Dan Campbell and Atlanta’s Raheem Morris, decided to end the game and not finish.
Campbell said after the game, “Raheem Morris is the ultimate class act. We agreed it just didn’t feel right to finish the game.”
An unsigned free agent in 2024, Norris came to Detroit from Fresno State. He started out on the practice squad before making the active roster last season. He played in two games and was resigned in January.
