HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Hamtramck City Council member whom a private investigator determined was not legally living in the city appears to be caught on video involved in a voting fraud investigation.
City Council Member Abu Musa is in a video appearing to drop off stacks of absentee ballots at a city drop box days before the August primary, according to WDIV. The TV station said it obtained the video and that the Michigan State Police said the video is part of an ongoing investigation.

In the video, Musa gives several large bundles of what look to be absentee ballots to the driver and the driver puts them into the drop off box.
WDIV reported that Musa received more than 1,129 votes in the primary election that was held last week to get back on the city council.
The surveillance video was reported just one day after Hamtramck City Council members Mohammed Hassan and Muhtasin Sadman were both charged with election law crimes involving filling in false votes on absentee ballots, according to WWJ. The alleged crimes took place during the 2023 election. That investigation was started by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and it initially included four current and one former Hamtramck city council members, who were alleged to have used absentee ballots to illegally vote.
Earlier this year, a private investigator reported that Hamtramck City Council members Muhith Mahmood and Abu Musa were not living inside the city limits of Hamtramck where they serve. The private investigator, hired by the city, reported that Musa lived in Warren and Mahmood lived in Troy. Both are still serving on the City Council, according to the city’s website.
