DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Ford Motor Co. moving its headquarters for the first time in 70 years, but the road trip will be a short one.

The automaker will relocate to a newly constructed building three miles down the road in Dearborn. The new 2.1-million-square-foot structure will be called “Ford World Headquarters” when it opens in November.

Ford’s current headquarters on American Road in Dearborn opened in 1956. The new facility will boast six design studios, a 160,000-square-foot food hall for employees, wellness rooms, mothers’ spaces, and tech-enabled meeting rooms.

In addition, competing automaker General Motors is in the middle of a headquarters move. It will leave its location in the Renaissance Center and move into a new downtown development called “Hudson’s Detroit.”
