DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The city of Dearborn Heights is joining several other municipalities in the state looking to ban short-term rentals, such as the popular Airbnb.
The Dearborn Heights city council will review changing its ordinance to ban short-term rentals at its Sept. 23 meeting.

“Due to the lack of regulation and the lack of owner presence, these new types of short-term rentals … cause significant problems,” the ordinance revision stated. “They are incompatible with surrounding residential neighborhoods which are typically composed of single-family dwellings. They are used by guests for illegal and illicit activities, including drug trafficking. They are also used by guests to host parties which create neighborhood nuisances via problems with noise, traffic and parking.”
Dearborn Heights joins a growing number of Michigan communities that have banned the popular short-term rentals.
