GRAND BLANC TWP., Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Police already had their hands full investigating the mass shooting and fire at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc. Then a 21-year-old Flint man decided to test the barricades.

ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) officials said the man ignored orders to stop and drove straight through the roadblocks guarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCandlish Road—the same site where four worshippers were killed and a dozen more injured.

Investigators were forced to pause their work, unsure if the driver posed another threat. “It really gives us pause and complicates the work we’re trying to do for the community,” James Deir, head of the ATF’s Detroit office, said.

The scene was already under heavy scrutiny: agents had discovered four improvised explosive devices in the suspected gunman’s truck, raising concerns about additional dangers. Officials urged residents to steer clear until the site is secured.

Grand Blanc Township’s police chief, William Renye, acknowledged the arrest but did not confirm the exact timing.
