DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Detroit) is usually quick to post, protest, and rage against Israel and anything related to Gaza and the Palestinians. Suddenly, she’s gone radio silent.
As President Donald J. Trump appears poised to seal what many hope to be a permanent peace deal between Hamas and Israel – complete with today’s hostage release – Rashida Tlaib’s X feed looks like a ghost town on the topic. Not a peep, not a post, not even a recycled hashtag regarding the peace deal. Her staff, too, has stayed radio silent, offering no statement as of yet.

Instead of addressing one of the biggest diplomatic breakthroughs in decades, the congresswoman spent the last week posting about fired federal workers, an Illinois judge’s ruling against Trump’s team, and accusing Israel of “starving Gaza to death.”
It’s a strange look for a congresswoman who’s built her image on “speaking truth to power” and has long been one of the loudest voices demanding a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. But when that power happens to be Trump negotiating peace and saving lives in the Gaza Strip – including Palestinians – suddenly it’s crickets.
Even as world leaders and even some Democrats reluctantly acknowledged Trump’s apparent success, Tlaib continues to be in a chorus of progressive silence – right alongside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York).
In the end, Tlaib’s silence says a lot. When peace breaks out and Trump’s the one making it happen, the congresswoman who never met a protest she didn’t like suddenly has nothing to say.
