LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Michigan hunters and anglers could soon pay more to cast a line or tag a deer.
On Tuesday, the Michigan Senate approved more than 20 license fee increases that is expected to raise about $20 million a year for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Supporters say the hikes are needed to cover rising costs; critics argue it’s another burden on residents already paying more for just about everything else.
Resident combo licenses would jump from $75 to $100, while out-of-state visitors could pay up to $355.
House Republican leaders, however, aren’t biting. “It’s never going to happen as long as I’m speaker,” Speaker Matt Hall (R-Richland Township) said, calling the plan unnecessary.
DNR officials say it’s the first increase in more than a decade, but Rep. Ken Borton (R-Gaylord) says it will be “dead on arrival” in the Republican-controlled House.
