ADRIAN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The father of three Michigan boys who disappeared in 2010 and were never found is finally facing charges for their murders.
John Skelton faces three counts of open murder and tampering with evidence, according to Lenawee County court records. The charges come a few weeks before his scheduled release from a 10-15 year prison sentence for the unlawful imprisonment of his sons.

Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5 Skelton spent Thanksgiving with their father in Morenci in 2010. Their mother, Tanya Zuvers, was supposed to pick them up from her ex-husband the next day. She stopped hearing from John Skelton and went to his house. However, he wasn’t there but was in the hospital for a broken ankle. He told hospital workers that he injured his ankle while trying to commit suicide.
Police found Skelton’s home destroyed with no signs of the boys. Police say Skelton kept changing his story about the location of his sons. A search party effort to find the boys was not successful. Zuvers said Skelton previously “claimed that the boys would hibernate until they graduate.”
A judge granted Zuvers’ request to declare Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner legally dead earlier this year.
