LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Deer hunting season is here, and with it comes an increased risk of deer collisions.
According to recently released state data, more deer-involved traffic crashes occur in November than any other month of the year.

The 2024 Michigan End of Year Traffic Crash Report found that Michigan drivers were involved in 58,324 deer crashes during 2024. Of these, 1,613 caused injury and 14 resulted in a fatality.
This overall number is slightly less than the 58,806 crashes in 2023 and 58,984 in 2022, but represents a dramatic increase from the 52,218 crashes in 2021.
The report found that the most crashes occur in October-December, with 10,017 crashes in November alone. Additionally, crashes most often happened during a weekday between 6 a.m.– 8:59 a.m and 6 p.m.–8:59 p.m.
Kent County had the most deer-involved traffic crashes, followed by Oakland and Jackson County.
