DEARBORN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Jake Lang came to Dearborn looking for a fight. He left with condemnation.
Lang didn’t find support among conservatives who spoke out about his stunt of coming to Dearborn on Nov. 18 to join a Christian march where he announced he would burn a Quran and cook bacon.

But Lang isn’t a stranger to controversy. He spent time in prison for his involvement in the January 6 protests at the U.S. Capital in 2021; President Trump pardoned Lang. He told Muslim members of the city of Dearborn’s City Council to “get the f*** out” of the country. Videos of Lang’s actions have gone viral all across social media. One video shows him getting punched while marching. Another video shows a bunch of young Arab men surrounding Lang after the march ended at the City Hall. “This is not America!” Lang said into the camera as agitated Arbs shouted at him.
“Not American or Christian.”
Conservative condemnation for Lang was widespread.
“Traveling half way across the country, into someone else’s city to throw bacon and burn religious icons all while live streaming and holding a cross and American flag is not what it means to be American or Christian,” Anna Hoffman, a Michigan-based conservative social media influencer posted on X. “Defund whatever movement that was.”
Hoffman has been critical of Muslims that denounce America in the past.
In April 2024, she posted on X a video of an unnamed activist in Dearborn who said he was quoting Malcolm X as saying, “We live in one of the rottenest countries that has ever existed on this Earth.”
“Do they know they can go back to the countries they came from since it’s so bad here?” Hoffman wrote.

Chris Long, the state GOP’s grassroots vice-chairman, also posted a statement criticizing Lang.
“The garbage … accomplishes nothing,” Long wrote. “It doesn’t advance conservatism. It doesn’t move voters. It doesn’t build bridges. All it does is divide, inflame and sabotage the real work being done by people actually trying to unify voters and win elections.”
Anthony Hudson, the GOP conservative who promoted the march, was angry at Lang for hijacking the event. Hudson said he wanted the Dearborn police to arrest Lang and charge him with trying to incite a riot.
In addition, Hudson had little sympathy for Lang being attacked repeatedly during his march. Lang’s followers marched separate from the group of protesters Hudson led.
“If somebody stepped up and popped you in the mouth, maybe you deserved it,” Hudson said.
“A spectacle.”
The condemnation didn’t stop there. James Dickson is political commentator who worked for the Detroit News.
“Jake Lang spends a lot of time outside of his home – and his home state – protesting and filming himself,” Dickson said. “He makes a spectacle of himself constantly, and to what end? The politics of the selfie stick are boring and self-serving.”
