LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — Michigan’s first snowfall is here, and so is the state’s favorite winter tradition: a snowplow fleet armed with puns sharp enough to cut ice.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) just released its updated list of officially named plows  across the state. The annual rollout breaks names down by region and serves a practical purpose: helping residents track plow locations and road-clearing progress throughout the season.

From the Lansing-area “University Region,” standouts include Tom Blizzo, Truck Norris, Clearopathra, Edgar Allan Snow, and Luke Saltwalker.

Other regions get in on the fun, too. The “Bay Region” brings flair with names like The Abominable Snowplow, Snow Force 1, Pillsbury Plowboy, Rock Salt Renegade, and Snowprah Winfrey.

In the “Grand Region,” the puns only multiply: Auntie Arctica, Frost Responder, Sleetwood Mac, Jon Bon Snowi, and The Great and Plowerful Oz all make appearances.

MDOT keeps a full list online, updated as new names are added and old favorites reappear.
