LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) — A Palmer Woods mansion once celebrated for its historic charm is now central to a federal criminal case that has landed two of its residents in jail.

Federal prosecutors say an FBI investigation into online child exploitation led agents to the Tudor-style home on Lucerne Drive, where immigration attorney Joshua Ronnebaum, 45, and psychologist Jeremy Tacon, 51, lived. Both men face federal charges related to the receipt of child sexual abuse material, according to court records unsealed this month.

The home—built more than a century ago for an auto industry pioneer and later featured in design publications—became part of the investigation after agents traced digital communications and images to devices allegedly used by the men.

Prosecutors say those materials were discovered following a broader FBI investigation that began earlier this year with the arrest of a third individual in Ohio.

Court filings allege that electronic messages, images, and identifying details tied the investigation back to the Detroit residence. Agents later executed a search warrant at the home, seizing dozens of electronic devices for forensic review.

Ronnebaum is charged with receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, offenses that carry potential sentences of up to 20 years in prison. Tacon faces a charge of receiving such material. Both men are being held in separate county jails as their cases proceed in federal court.

Prosecutors emphasize that the charges remain allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
