ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Michigan News Source) – East Lansing native and actor Timothy Busfield turned himself into police in New Mexico on Tuesday after authorities issued a warrant four days earlier that accuses him of sexual abuse of a minor.
Busfield is accused of touching a 7-year-old boy while directing episodes of the Fox show “The Cleaning Lady.” Police have been investigating the case since late 2024, after receiving a report from the child’s doctor. The child’s twin brother also appeared on the show.

In a video released to TMZ, Busfield said “On Saturday, I got in a car and drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque [New Mexico]. I’m going to confront these lies. They’re horrible lies and I did not do anything to those little boys.” He added, “I’m going to fight it.”
Busfield and his wife, actress Melissa Gilbert, lived in Michigan’s Livingston County from 2013-2018. In 2016, Busfield joined Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences as an artist in residence.
