LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – U.S. Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin said “Michiganders see themselves in what is happening in Minnesota,” in a social media post.
“Since the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal forces, I have heard from Michiganders of all political persuasions – including folks who actively avoid politics,” Slotkin posted. “That’s because Michiganders see themselves in what is happening in Minnesota. … This is an attack on ALL of our freedoms as Americans.”

The post comes as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reported that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent had a portion of a finger bitten off by a protester.
In addition, DHS reported that a man was arrested for throwing large blocks of ice at ICE agents. Vice President JD Vance reported that a mob of angry protesters tracked ICE agents at a restaurant. The ICE agents were trapped as local police would not respond.
Sen. Aric Nesbitt (R-Porter Township), who is running for governor, posted a video of protesters smashing the glass window of a hotel the protesters believed ICE agents were staying in.
“There is absolutely nothing about this that is ‘peaceful’,” said Sen. Aric Nesbitt on X.
Democrat Sheriff of Chris Swanson of Genesee County, who is also running for governor, blamed President Donald Trump for the chaos in Minneapolis.
“Unless there is a complete directional change in federal immigration enforcement, this will continue,” Swanson said.
