WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – A new briefing from a nonpartisan research and policy group raises what it calls “serious ethical and national security concerns” about Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and her antisemitic rhetoric and affiliations.

The report, released by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, alleges Tlaib boasts a pattern of aligning with people and organizations linked to U.S.-designated foreign terrorist groups. In addition, it highlights Tlaib’s participation in events where campaign payments went to activists tied to terrorist groups like Hamas and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) networks. Unbought Power is a consulting firm led by Rasha Mubarak, an anti-Islrael activist. He also received hundreds of thousands of dollars of Tlaib campaign funds, the briefing alleges.

The report also cites Tlaib’s appearance at a conference alongside Wisam Rafeedie, a convicted PFLP operative who defends the Oct. 7 Hamas attack as “resistance.” Tlaib has never addressed the killing of 1,200 Israelis, many women and children, despite media outlets repeatedly asking for statements.

Tlaib, the only Palestinian member of Congress, received a censure in November 2023 over statements related to the Oct. 7 attacks. Representatives introduced a second resolution in 2025 after her appearance at a pro-Palestinian conference that minimized Hamas-linked terrorism.

The briefing further accuses Tlaib of using antisemitic tropes. In 2021, she made remarks at a 2021 event and said  “people behind the curtain” profited from racism “from Gaza to Detroit.”

Tlaib also garnered media attention this week when she blew a whistle in a Congressional session. Tlaib said that, along with a cell phone, are all Americans have to protect themselves from ICE officers. She called for the abolition of ICE and claimed ICE has been built on “violence and racism.”

Voters first elected Rep. Tlaib to Congress in 2018.
