LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced on Feb. 4 her office created a reporting form for citizens to send their videos and photos of ICE agents operating within the state.
Critics of the policy have now dubbed it the “snitch line.”

Kevin Kijewski, a Republican running for election in the attorney general race, posted on X calling it “a snitch line urging residents to report ICE and Border Patrol agents for enforcing federal law.”
One X account stated, “Nessel’s Nasty Snitch Line. Be a snitch for Dana. You are asking Michiganders to put their lives and the lives of their loved ones at risk so they can snitch to you? If you and the Michigan police departments cooperated with ICE, you would know where they are operating.”
Another X account wrote, “Announcing, Michigan Attorney General’s new ‘Snitch Line’. First, you report your neighbors having home gatherings more than 6 people in Covid lockdown. Now comes a new revelation: ICE Agents doing their jobs. Nessel wants to Minnesota our Michigan.”
In addition, New Jersey created a similar form that was implemented about the same time as Michigan’s.
Nessel said when the reporting form was launched that her office had received more than 5,000 emails documenting ICE activity in the state.
