SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Michigan News Source) —Federal immigration authorities are expanding their footprint in Metro Detroit with a new administrative office in Southfield.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), through the federal General Services Administration, has leased office space at One Towne Square.

City leaders emphasized the lease complies with local zoning and does not require special approval.
“One Towne Square is a privately owned commercial property that is properly zoned for general office use,” the city said in a statement, noting municipalities do not have authority to block lawful federal tenancy.
The building’s owner, REDICO, confirmed the lease prohibits detention or law enforcement activity at the location and said the space will function as a professional office environment. Federal agencies commonly use such offices to coordinate legal proceedings, case management, and administrative functions tied to immigration enforcement.
The Southfield office reflects broader federal efforts to strengthen immigration infrastructure and support enforcement operations nationwide.
