On Jan. 13, Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, posted, “It’s time to let X/Twitter go. This platform’s decline from a vibrant public square to what is now a platform for hate, disinformation & manipulation has been painful to experience. Find me & the AFT on Bluesky, Substack, Threads, Instagram, or Facebook.”

Bluesky Social was founded by Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter.

“We are using primarily the Meta platform due to its metrics and focus of our audience,” Wilson said in an email to Michigan News Source. “I do believe some items are still posted on X , but we have had major shifts in marketing over the past three years to speak directly to our parents and students who are on FB and Instagram.
