LOS ANGELES (Michigan News Source) – A Michigan man knows how to pick up his pace.
Nathan Martin, 36, clinched a photo finish win at the 41st Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday. He secured the closest finish in the race’s history and marked the second consecutive year an American man has won the event.

Martin completed the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 18 seconds. He narrowly overtook Kenya’s Michael Kamau. He earned second place with an identical time.

Martin was seen chasing down Kamau at the end of the race.

Kamau did not consumer fluids during the race and collapsed at the finish line; he required medical attention.
Martin is a substitute teacher and track and cross country coach at Jackson High School. He holds a personal best of 2:10:45 which he set at the 2023 Grandma’s Marathon. That’s where he established a record as the fastest US-born Black marathoner.
