WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A preliminary identification from law enforcement names 41-year-old Lebanese-born American citizen Ayman Mohamad Ghazali the suspect in Thursday’s terrorist attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.
Ghazali allegedly rammed a vehicle filled with explosives into the synagogue around 12:30 p.m., then got out and exchanged gunfire with security officers. They shot and killed Ghazali. All preschool children and staff were safely evacuated.

Multiple law enforcement sources and federal authorities said Ghazali, who lived in Dearborn Heights, entered the United States as the spouse of a American citizen in 2011 under the Obama administration. He received citizenship in 2016.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said earlier that Ghazali’s vehicle struck one security guard. The number of affected responders then rose with around 30 officers taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation after Ghazali’s vehicle caught fire.
