LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, U.S. Senator Gary Peters, former U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, U.S. House Representatives Debbie Dingell and Rashida Tlaib, and a host of other Democrats running for office in Michigan have sidled up to a Dearborn Heights-based Imam who’s no stranger to anti-American rhetoric.
Michigan News Source obtained photos from Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi’s public Facebook page. He leads the Michigan-based Islamic House of Wisdom and most recently lamented about the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei by American military forces. Ali Elahi referred to America as “the most wretched hands on Earth.” His mosque is known to promote Iranian propaganda.

In addition, Michigan campaign finance records indicate that Ali Elahi has donated small amounts to Democratic campaigns. Those include Michigan U.S. Senate candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, Secretary of State candidate and Lt. Gov. Gilchrist, and former Detroit Mayor and current gubernatorial candidate Mike Duggan.
Gov. Whitmer invited Ali Elahi to say a Muslim prayer at her Jan. 1, 2023 inauguration ceremony.
