The most recent talking points for Democrats centers around separating funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from DHS. However, ICE is already funded through 2029 so that point is moot for the next three years.
Michigan’s two U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Elissa Slotkin, both Democrats, have consistently voted against funding DHS. Two weeks ago they voted no within minutes of the Hezbollah-tied terrorist attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. The next day Slotkin appeared to backpedal by saying ICE funding needed to be part of a separate conversation.
Slotkin’s stance is “Set aside ICE. Negotiate reforms. Fund everything else.”

Peters posted similar sentiments.
11 times Democrats have tried to open TSA, FEMA, CISA, and the Coast Guard.⁰⁰Republicans blocked it every time.⁰⁰We must fund these agencies while we negotiate commonsense reforms to ICE.
