CHEBOYGAN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Water levels at the Cheboygan Dam are rising quickly, and the “Ready, Set, Go” safety system is in place.
Under the “Ready, Set, Go” system, “Ready” means plan and pack. “Set” means prepare your family, pets, and vehicles to leave. “Go” means evacuate immediately.

Currently, the area is in the “Ready” stage. That means water is about a foot below the top and, and still climbing. More rain is predicted, and officials are warning residents to start preparing for a possible evacuation.
The Cheboygan dam continues to flow wide open, and water levels are reportedly starting to rise once again today as more rain has impacted and will continue to impact the area. Extra pumps are helping move water around the dam. On Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency.
