IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Zayn Edward Arcand, the 20-year-old who identifies as “genderfluid,” was sentenced on Monday, April 21 to one year in jail for a July 2025 arson attempt on the Dickinson County Republican Headquarters in Iron Mountain.

In addition, Arcand received three years of probation and 240 hours of community service.

In January 2026, Arcand pleaded guilty to sending explosives with intent to frighten and arson-preparation to burn real property. The damage at the GOP headquarters included one shattered window.

According to law enforcement, Arcand attempted to light two makeshift Molotov cocktails before throwing them at the building.
