WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – America is reading the Bible, and President Donald Trump is reading it, too.

The America Reads the Bible initiative is a nationwide call as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebration to “discover the Bible again or read it for the first time.” People have the option of reading on their own or watching the live stream.

On Tuesday, President Trump read 2 Chronicles 7:11-22. The passage from the Old Testament is directed at the ancient Israelites, but many see it as a call to all individuals who follow God today.

While some called the initiative a publicity stunt, others praised the movement. “This is what leadership looks like,” wrote one X user. “A president who isn’t ashamed to read the Bible in public and remind us who we are as a nation.”

Another chimed in, “Awesome. A step in the right direction. One plants. One waters. God gives the increase.” The X user then quoted from i Corinthians 3:9 in the New Testament “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.”

More than 400 Christian leaders, elected officials, and entertainers are reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation over the course of seven days.
