INTERLOCHEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A lodge once named for late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is set to be demolished at The Interlochen Center for the Arts.
Epstein attended summer camp at Interlochen in the 1960s and donated to the organization for several years. The camp built a lodge on the shores of Green Lake using donations from Epstein, and it was named in his honor.

Interlochen Public Radio reports that the Interlochen Center for the Arts investigated Epstein’s activities on campus after his first criminal conviction in 2009. The investigation found no evidence of any crimes committed there, but the camp changed the name of the building to Green Lake Lodge.
Despite the name change, the arts camp and academy decided more steps needed to be taken.
“Green Lake Lodge has, over time, come to carry associations that are not reflective of who we are as an institution or the values we strive to uphold,” the Interlochen Center for the Arts said in a statement to the media. “The Board determined that removing this structure in a safe and timely manner is the right step for Interlochen at this time.”
Epstein was accused of grooming and raping underage girls, including one he reportedly met through Interlochen. He was arrested in July of 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. A month later, he was found dead in his cell from an apparent suicide.
As of January 2026, the Trump administration reported releasing roughly 3.5 million pages of documents, along with more than 180,000 photographs and images and more than 2,000 videos related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. In addition, lawmakers in the Michigan House introduced legislation to create a special committee and launch an independent committee to investigate the Interlochen Center for the Arts and its connections to Epstein.
