WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – The U.S. House passed funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol through 2029. The 214-212 vote and subsequent passage of the bill marked a key victory for the Trump administration and GOP leaders.
The nearly $70 billion budget reconciliation package stalled in the Senate for weeks. The bill was signed into law by President Trump today.

Republican Rep. Tim Walberg of Michigan initially cast a no vote which would have left the bill just shy of the necessary votes for approval. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Appropriations Committee Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) huddled with Walberg on the floor before he changed his vote, allowing the bill to pass.
