LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Celebrating America’s 250th birthday comes with a reminder: Don’t expect mail delivery on Independence Day. July 4, 2026, marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colonies’ separation from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will observe Independence Day on Saturday, July 4 by closing all post offices and pausing regular mail delivery – but will be open as usual on Friday, July 3.
