LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With this week’s Republican gubernatorial debate fast approaching, the “get behind Trump’s guy” campaign picked up another supporter.
Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall officially endorsed John James for governor on July 2, urging Republicans to unite behind President Trump’s endorsed candidate in the August primary. Hall called James the candidate who can unite the party and work with the Republican-led House to cut taxes, improve public safety and lower costs for Michigan families.

Hall said in a statement, “President Donald J. Trump has made his choice and endorsed John James for governor, and I am standing with our President and with John. It’s time for all Republicans to come together and join President Trump and unify the party in support of John. John James is the right choice who will unite our party and bring victory in November.”
But the endorsement wasn’t the only headline about James last week.
James calls for terrorist designation for CAIR.
After the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) criticized comments James made about Islamist extremism during a Newsmax interview, the congressman fired back with an even stronger pledge: if elected governor, he said he would seek to designate CAIR as a terrorist organization in Michigan, citing actions previously taken or proposed by the governors of Texas and Florida.
In a statement, James said, “I didn’t go and fight extremists abroad to have them on our doorstep. Under no circumstances will we allow Michigan to be a home for extremism.” He went on to say, “As Governor, I will not tolerate extremists who threaten our way of life. If you come to America, you must obey our laws, you must assimilate into our culture, you must embrace the Constitution and you must pledge allegiance to the United States of America; or you will go home.”
