GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Friends, neighbors, and the community will have a chance to mourn the deaths of a Grand Haven Township mother and her six children.

A memorial service for 39-year-old Mandy Karolkiewicz and her six children, ages 5 to 15, will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at Harvest Vertical Church in Grand Haven.

Officials found the bodies of Mandy and her children on July 24 after responding to reports of smoke at the home. Authorities later determined that 47-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz shot Mandy and the children before setting the family’s home on fire and killing himself. Police said they are reviewing documentation found at the scene.

Family spokesperson Emily Jones told the media, “We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support pouring in from the Grand Haven community and beyond. We ask that this occasion be one of remembrance, and that the community continue to hold the memory of Mandy and the children with care and compassion as we grieve together and celebrate the joy they brought into the world.”

Days after the killings, more than 100 people gathered for a community prayer vigil.
