Thanedar was first elected to Congress in November 2022. Thanedar’s tenure in Congress has been marked by a series of controversies, including criticism over his repeated impeachment resolutions, bankruptcies of several of his businesses following the 2008 financial crisis, and complaints over animal testing at a former pharmaceutical company he owned.

Tuesday night’s win sends McKinney into a November showdown against the unopposed GOP candidate T.P. Nykoriak.
