CADILLAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Brad Bartholomew got his computer Tuesday, one day before Rebecca Park should have been celebrating her 23rd birthday. In a grim bit of timing in an already horrific case, a Wexford County judge ruled Tuesday that Bartholomew can use a computer while incarcerated to review evidence in the murder case against him. Park, the woman Bartholomew is accused of helping to murder, would have turned 23 on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Judge clears way for computer access

Bartholomew’s defense had argued that reviewing the massive amount of discovery without a computer was impractical. The case reportedly includes roughly 6,000 pages of documents along with audio and video evidence. A previous hearing ended without a ruling after Judge Corey Wiggins questioned whether he even had authority to order the Wexford County Jail to change its procedures.

That question has apparently been settled. Bartholomew will now be permitted computer access to review discovery. He and his wife, Cortney Bartholomew, are expected back in court Sept. 18 for a preliminary hearing. Bartholomew did not appear in court for Tuesday’s hearing.

A birthday Rebecca never got to see

While the court worked out Bartholomew’s computer access, Tuesday also marked a painful date for Rebecca’s family.

Park was 22 and approximately 38 weeks pregnant when she disappeared Nov. 3, 2025. Prosecutors allege Cortney – Rebecca’s biological mother – and Brad lured her to their Wexford County home and tortured her while attempting to remove her unborn baby, killing both Rebecca and her son. Rebecca’s remains were discovered in the Manistee National Forest on Nov. 25.

Court records say Rebecca suffered multiple sharp-force injuries and that her abdomen had been cut open. Her baby’s remains have never been recovered.

Both Bartholomews have pleaded not guilty and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. They face numerous felony charges, including first-degree murder, felony murder and torture.
