LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Jocelyn Benson has chosen one of Michigan’s top Democratic lawmakers to join her gubernatorial ticket.
On Wednesday, Benson selected Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks (D-Grand Rapids) as her running mate.
Benson announced the news on social media.
“As lieutenant governor, Winnie will draw on her wealth of legislative knowledge to help implement our plans to lower costs and raise wages for Michigan families,” Benson wrote. “She’s the right partner to help lead Michigan forward and I’m proud to have her join me in the fight for a brighter, more affordable future.”

The Benson-Brinks ticket will face Republican gubernatorial candidate John James and his running mate, State Rep. Jay DeBoyer (R-Clay Township).
