CORUNNA, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The running mate of Michigan’s Libertarian gubernatorial nominee has been arraigned on a felony charge.

Beau Parmenter, the Libertarian Party’s nominee for lieutenant governor, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 9, and arraigned Thursday in Shiawassee County District Court.

Parmenter, 45, faces one count of larceny by conversion involving property valued between $1,000 and $20,000. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 or three times the value of the property, whichever is greater.

He pleaded not guilty.

Parmenter, formerly of Chesaning, is running alongside gubernatorial nominee Anthony Hudson of Grand Blanc Township in Michigan’s Nov. 3 general election.

Attorney Daniel Barrett, who represents Parmenter, said his client is accused of taking a $2,500 deposit from a couple in connection with a May 2025 transaction involving Country Barn Estates, an event venue Parmenter owns. Barrett denied the allegation and called the charge “frivolous.” He also told the media that he believes the case will be dismissed.

Parmenter’s bond was set at $10,000 cash. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 23.
