FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Several abandoned farm animals need emergency shelter, and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community for help.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said deputies followed a tip to a vacant property on Jennings Road near Hill Road on Saturday. Detectives and Genesee County Animal Care found sheep and goats without food or fresh water. Officials also discovered animal remains and believe at least one animal starved to death.

Animal Care is not equipped to house livestock, so local rescue groups and qualified volunteers are needed immediately.

Swanson vowed that anyone responsible for abandoning and starving the animals would be arrested and charged.

“Wherever they are at, we’re going to go find them,” Swanson told WNEM.
