FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Henry Ford Genesys nurses are preparing to return to work after ending a strike that lasted more than a year.
The 411-day nurses’ strike at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital ended Friday, Oct. 16, after members of Teamsters Local 332 voted to ratify the hospital’s latest contract offer.

According to the hospital, the contract includes a 13% wage increase, new weekend, critical and off-shift pay rates, and guaranteed seniority rights for every striking union member. It also maintains the nurse-to-patient staffing ratios included in previous union contracts.
Hospital and union representatives will now negotiate terms for the striking nurses’ return to work.
“We’re thrilled at the prospect of welcoming our valued team members back to work and look forward to working side by side with them to provide the high-quality care and service our communities count on,” Henry Ford Genesys Hospital interim President Gwen Sandefur said in a statement.
The strike began Sept. 1, 2025, when roughly 750 nurses and caseworkers walked off the job, seeking safer staffing and improved working conditions.
