LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – A recent study of Michigan’s roads, highways, and bridges finds the average household is paying more than $4,800 a year in costs related to poor road conditions, traffic delays, car crashes, and insufficient bridges.
The study estimates that amount will be jump beyond $6,000 by 2031 if the state doesn’t invest more into improving it’s transportation systems.

Close to one-quarter of the state’s major roads or highways are rated in poor condition. The report says investing in that infrastructure would boost the state’s economy by reducing household costs.
