JACKSON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Consumer’s Energy plan to stop using coal to generate electricity is approved.

The Michigan Public Service Commission has approved the utility’s plan to stop using coal to generate electricity by 2025.

Consumers Energy President and CEO Garrick Rochow calls it a “historic moment in Michigan’s clean energy transformation journey.”

Rochow says the company’s clean energy plan positions them as “a national leader and empowers us to deliver reliable energy while protecting the planet for decades to come.”
